| 【论文摘要】 | 西奥多·德莱塞(Theodore Dreiser，1871-1945)，美国自然主义作家的杰出代表，创作长篇和短篇小说长达五十年。他一生创作了许多著品，其中《嘉莉妹妹》，“欲望三部曲”，《美国悲剧》和《城堡》堪称其最重要、最有影响力的作品。虽然许多评论家和学者都将德莱塞笼统地划分为美国自然主义的杰出代表，但是在不同的创作时期他宣扬的观点却不尽相同。凭着对社会的热切关注以及敏锐的观察力，德莱塞无愧于“伟大的文学大师”的头衔。他的小说就像一面镜子一样，准确地反映社会现象。
